Take Our Kid to Work Day will be Wednesday November 2, 2016 for grade 9 students. Students need to return their permission forms to the Guidance Office by Friday October 21st.
Women in Trades
As part of the continuing effort to promote skilled trades to young women, the CDSBEO is happy to announce a special presentation – Women in Trades. The presentation will take place at the North Grenville Municipal Center on Tuesday November 1st for all grade 8 & 9 female students.
The presentation will feature Jamie McMillan, founder of the Journeyman organization which promotes women in the skilled trades by speaking in high school classrooms and at national trade events.
Working in a male-dominated industry Jamie began networking with tradesmen and women in Canada and the U.S.A. to better understand and identify the needs and challenges for outreach and recruitment. After much research Jamie solidified her program vision and officially founded Journeyman in 2012. Since then she has continued to expand the Journeyman initiative through her outreach and advocacy.
The morning will be an excellent opportunity for our female students to learn more about the skilled trades and the opportunities within.
The event runs from 9:30 till 11:00 on the morning of November 1st. The students will be dismissed after period 1 and make their way to the Municipal Centre for the presentation.
Should you have any questions contact Mr. S. MacDonald in Guidance.
As McGill University is not able to visit St. Michael this year, they have invited our grade 12 students who are considering applying to McGill to participate in an interactive webinar on Wednesday December 7th at 8 pm.
