Detailed Exam Review has now been posted with all the terms you have to know. I will make up baggies with the terms cut up for each unit so you can move them around the page to work through it. On your exam, the terms are broken up into their Units.
We will be having our exam for this course Friday, January 25th at 8 am in our classroom. The exam will cover all topics covered so far, including:
1) Introduction Unit/ Fundamentals of Geography and Mapping
2) Physical Geography
3) Natural Resources
5) Population and Demographics
For the first 3 units, the questions will come from previous tests and quizzes, but may be rearranged or reworded, so I encourage for these units to study the assessments more than anything. For climate and population/demogragraphics, the exam review will be more detailed, and the notes must be studied.
The exam will consist of multiple choice questions, true and false questions, matching definitions (where the terms will be broken up per unit so that it is more manageable) and the application questions which they will get in advance. So the format is the same as our previous unit tests. It will be out of 200 marks. They will have 3 hours to write it, unless they have an IEP for extra time. If they have a scribe for their exam, they will be writing it in the library.
I have posted a list of what tests/assignments and notes to study for the test and I will be giving a list of terms to know and a more detailed review sheet for the Population Demographics Notes.
I have extended the time to complete the Culminating Activity tol include class on Monday January 21st. Attendance is still manditory and absences will require a doctor's note since this activity cannot be completed outside of class. The are designing their own community and they have the choice to create a map or model of their community. If they have chosen to create a model, the student is responsible for all materials to build this model. No materials will be provided.
If you are absent at all before Christmas break, please make sure you have printed and read the power points on Climate in Canada, Climate Change and Ecological Footprinting. You muct also complete the activity on Ecological Footprinting. Also, if you missed your test, ensure you are prepared to write your Natural Resource Unit Test the first day back from break, Monday, January 7th,2019.
There will be many short, multiple choice quizzes given after most lessons in this unit to help them prepare for their Unit Test. These quiz marks will only be used in their averages if they bring their mark up, and ommitted if they bring their mark down. Their main purpose is to check for the student's undertsanding of the material and to provide a study tool for the Unit Test when the time comes. If they miss the quiz, they are not required to write it, but will be given a blank copy with the correct answers so they still have the study tool.
